With over 150 million people using Snapchat every day, there’s no denying that it’s one of the most popular social media platforms, making it the perfect way for you to get your brand and message across to your audience. However, it’s also considered by many to not be very user-friendly and complicated to use at times.
We’ve compiled a list of ‘hidden’ features that you might not know about with clear instructions on how to access them, which will effectively distinguish you from your competition and create exciting content for your followers.
1) USE MULTIPLE FILTERS
If you want to use two different filters such as two Geofilters on your snap, simply swipe left to add the first filter normally, then hold one finger on the screen and use another finger to swipe left to select the second filter.
2) CREATE YOUR OWN GEOFILTER
Are you hosting an event or launching a new product for your business? You can create your very own Geofilter for the occasion by going to Settings, hitting On Demand Geofilters and customise what you want and where on your Geofilter. It’s a great way of engaging your followers or visitors to the event by encouraging them to use your Geofilter.
3) ACCESS SNAP MAP TO ATTRACT LOCALISED PROSPECTS
Any Snapchat user can access the Snap Map to locate their friends on the map of the world, but it’s also a good tool for businesses as it shows crowdsourced photos and videos that are shared from specific locations, making it easier than ever to advertise to users based on the places that they visit in the real world. To use it, simply open up the camera and pinch the screen.
4) SHOOT 60 SECOND PRODUCT VIDEOS
Users can now record up to 60 seconds with Multi Snap, compared to the previous limit of 10 seconds. All you have to do is hold your finger down on the record button for the desired time, and Snapchat will automatically continue recording. It will split the clip up into 10 second segments which you can then edit individually. This is a great tool that allows you to talk in a lot of detail about a new product or day to day life at the office, for example, to your followers without having to worry about a restrictive time limit.
5) DRAW WITH EMOJIS
Instead of just drawing on your snaps with the digital pen option, you can now draw with emojis to make your snaps more visual appealing and entertaining. Once you’ve taken a picture, select the pen tool and then press the emoji option below the colour palette and choose your desired emoji.
6) BLACK AND WHITE PEN TOOL
As well as annotating your snaps with the rainbow pen tool, you can also use the hidden black and white pens which can be accessed by dragging your finger from the colour palette downwards for black and towards the top, left hand corner for white.
7) ACTIVATE NIGHT CAMERA MODE
Sometimes, when you’re taking a snap, you’re not always gifted with natural daylight and are quite often left with poor light conditions which can really ruin a photograph. Snapchat has a feature to combat this problem if you tap the moon symbol that appears when the camera detects low light conditions which will change the ISO.
8) PIN EMOJIS TO OBJECTS IN YOUR VIDEO SNAPS
If you’re looking for a way to dress up your videos, you can now ‘pin’ emojis to objects which will make them move and rotate with that object. You can do this by recording your video in Snapchat, tapping the folded paper icon at the top of the screen, select your desired emoji then drag it to the object you want to pin it to and hold it down. This really gives a lot of freedom with your snaps and is bound to impress your followers!
9) FAST FORWARD, SLOW DOWN OR REWIND YOUR VIDEOS
Finally, you can fast forward, slow down or rewind your videos by swiping to the side like you would do to access the filters.
