What’s the difference between online PR and offline PR?
PR. Public Relations. Being the ambassador of a business. Owning its reputation. Building the brand through the written word and top class comms. Having an excellent 'little black book' of contacts in the media.
Online PR. VERY different. Now you are faced with two audiences to satisfy. One is your target market and the other is (usually) Google!

I went to a really interesting seminar a year or so ago where the Marketing Manager from British Airways described his challenges in getting Social Media buy-in from key decision makers within his business. He said that the company had two choices:- either be "outside the conversation looking in" or be "part of the conversation". Times have moved on since then and the channel has definitely matured.
