Google have announced that there will be a new mobile search index within the next few months. This new index will be the standard primary index that their search engines will use for anyone searching for a particular key phrase or query on a mobile device.
Google is fully splitting its search index into two distinct versions: a rapidly updated mobile one, and a separate, secondary search index for the desktop web. Maintaining a fully separate index would allow Google to expand the push by judging sites with alternate mobile and desktop sites very differently.
