Press release syndication

SCS Marketing and PR Limited specialise in compelling and newsworthy web copywriting with a healthy dose of keywords and a common sense approach to online distribution.

Once we’re ready to go with a press release, we’ll manage the news syndication process from start to finish and carefully select your distribution channels so you don’t look ‘spammy’ or create unnecessary duplicate content - which might lose you rank on certain keywords if you get penalised by Google.

Our approach is to mainly stick to the few article banks that have a quality bar, and so actually get readers, not just spiders. And where we do use online press distribution houses, we make sure there is a lot more on the page then just the press release. (The duplicate content thing is based on percentages so if the page has 75% duplicate stuff it will get more ‘filter’ applied to it than if it’s 50% duplicate).

We also know which distribution channels are good for what. One, for example, might be excellent for building links, and if you end up with some press coverage too, even better. The more expensive news wire services which feed out to multiple online publishers and in some cases also supply TV, newspapers and radio, we would probably keep in reserve for our most newsworthy announcements.

As part of our service, we also help get you ready for when journalists come to you. We’ll set you up with an online Media Centre which is hosted on your website and provides interested parties with an online media toolkit. This toolkit is an excellent means for journalists to access contact information, high resolution photos of key members of your team, exec bios, an archive of press releases and coverage and links to notable employee blogs all in one place, which saves them time and improves your chances of getting published.

Some Journalists also subscribe to RSS feeds, so we will make sure your content gets onto the news search engines such as Yahoo News/Blog Search, Google News etc and into influential Blog search engines such as Technorati.com or Google Blog Search as well as tag based engines like del.icio.us.

Another approach we’d work with you on is locating blog/websites that get picked up in Google news for your specific subject matter and then we’ll post your articles to these sites.

Posting your articles and press releases to your own site is also a golden rule ideally using a blog type CMS where you can bookmark them using social book marking services and tag them with keywords.

If you publish frequent news and articles, you might want to consider requesting that Google add your site as a news source. To do this you need to show Google News that you have an editorial review process in place and there is more than one person writing content (we’ll give you tips on how to reflect this on your website). You then need to start uploading news weekly (even better daily) and never re-publishing news. If you get in, Google newsbot will crawl your site very often.

So the SCS Magic Formula?

A little bit of effort goes a long way.

We will put in the effort to select and syndicate top quality content which is compelling and newsworthy with just the right amount of keywords. We will constantly be researching your target audience and their circles of influence and sending good stuff to where they hang out online. And, above all we will make sure that your content is easy to find and to syndicate by using a blog content management system to host articles and releases.
